Depth of Field - October 17th

Ok, we still don't seem to have a grasp on depth of field.

If you are shooting a portrait, you usually want a softer background. Using portrait mode on some cameras will give you this softer background. Using a larger aperture, like f-2, will also give you that softer background.
  • Put camera in aperture priority shooting mode (A)
  • As your aperture gets smaller (larger F stop), your picture will get darker--you might need to adjust the exposure
  • To do this, holder down the +- key and adjust... negative numbers make it darker and positive number will make it lighter

This is what you are going to work on today--during class. As a group, using the Sony Cybershot, you will pose for each other with a good background and take at least four shots with various aperture settings to see the difference in depth of field.

Use the entire hour to get shots... Everyone should take a turn... When finished bring the camera back to me and we will look at these on Friday.
